Michigan Gun Range Suicide with Rented Gun

Investigators said Wednesday a gun range videotape captured a woman's suicide after she apparently texted someone on her cellphone.

A 28-year-old Waterford Township woman, who has not been identified, shot herself once in the head with a nine millimeter handgun she had rented at the Accurate Gun Range in the 6500 block of Dixie Highway, according to a preliminary report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The woman had gone to the range about noon on Tuesday, rented the gun and fired off three boxes of ammunition on the practice range, deputies said. She was found lying on the floor by an employee and a range surveillance video reviewed by investigators showed she had been using her cellphone, apparently texting someone, when she set the phone down and put the handgun to her head and pulled the trigger.

  1. Why didn't all those good guys with guns stop her?

  2. Nice of gun loons to set up suicide stations.
She did not own a gun, so she had to go out of her way to a place that rents guns. Why didn't she do it by gas, or hanging, or knife, or baseball bat? She chose a gun and went out of her way to get a gun. If that gun had not been available, she would still be alive.

    1. Do you really think that people determined to kill themselves won't think of any other way to do it if guns were not available? I assume you can show via suicide statistics that the gun free countries have zero suicides?

That's the tricky dishonest question that you guys love to ask. But even you lying gun-rights fanatics know that most people who commit suicide are not "people determined to kill themselves" but rather mentally ill people who have lost the ability of choice, many of whom are suffering from a temporary depression or a passing crisis. Guns for these people are unforgiving, The higher rate of success when using a gun means many unnecessary deaths are allowed.

    3. Then explain how the Japanese manage to accomplish suicide at a much higher rate without guns. Or how is it that Canadians and citizens of Ireland kill themselves at rates similar to ours with the strict gun laws of those two nations?

    4. The stats prove me correct. The choice of death is by gun. Yes, if the gun wasn't there few would do it by your methods, and the stats prove that.

  3. You're just kidding, right?

    Let's see...
Poison? Too agonizing. Might survive and end up permanently disabled.
Lover's Leap? A good choice. Find a nice cliff with an easy hop, say one hundred feet or more. Get up your nerve? How about some barbiturates and alcohol.
Jump onto a crowded freeway from a bridge during rush hour? Good chance of immediate death. Might hurt or kill other people.
Drug overdose? Nice option if you have the connections and the privacy. How about a half a gram of pure heroin! Oxycontin?
Jump out of a building? Probably the easiest option so far. Lots of buildings are designed to prevent this action.
Cut your own throat with a straight-razor?. Nice try. Maybe just a nick to the wrists.
Hang yourself? Highly effective. Almost sure-fire. Takes a strong will. Might hurt for a while if you don't do it right.
    Hara-Kiri?
Swim out from the shore until you can't swim any further. Then learn to drown.
    Jump from a bridge? Maybe.
My personal favorite? Walk out into the desert with no water! Or cut off a chunk of ice and just float out to sea?

Gun. Super easy. Works every time. Only takes a moment of decision.

    1. You're forgetting a car in the garage. Hanging is also easy to do, so long as you take the first step.

  4. Damn! (Snaps fingers.) And that perennial favorite, turn on the gas and put your head in the oven!
