Ohio Gun Control Rally is Overwhelmed by Pro Gun Supporters

This reminds me of the behavior of commenters on gun control blogs. That's why most gun control bloggers, the smart ones, disallow comments altogether.

  1. Sad Panda doesn't like it when counter demonstrations show that there's more opposition to gun control than support for it.

And as for your comment about not allowing comments--I'd wager you get more traffic than the other blogs--here you get all sides. I'd wager that the others mostly get traffic from other anti-gun bloggers and activists. Preaching to the choir doesn't add much to the movement, it just further entrenches it so that you all become more and more extreme . . . I mean, you "evolve."

    1. Yeah, too bad I'm evolving in the wrong direction, right?

Your first remark is pretty silly. Talk about taking a tiny sample and projecting it to the whole.

    2. Re: the first remark--yeah, this is a tiny sample, but as you acknowledge in the post, this happens all the time--online (where telling who's real and who's a sockpuppet is not easy) and at real life protests all over the country.

I've yet to hear about a protest where the anti-gun counter protesters outnumbered the pro-gun protestors, but I've heard many where pro-gun counter protesters outnumbered anti's.

As for your "evolution"--it keeps moving you further and further to the extreme as you find gun after gun that must be banned. Eventually, once you Anti's have "evolved" enough, you'll have a problem with anyone privately owning guns.

  2. It also speaks to how much support MAIG has when they are afraid to publicize their schedule so the "wrong people" don't show up. Yet this happened even so.
I do give you points for taking comments. What is the percentage of comments that get moderated out if I may ask?

    1. Several of you guys have never had a comment moderated out. Interestingly, the greatest offender lately is our gun control friend Kevin. I delete the occasional comment from Greg and Tennessean in which they complain about the commenting policy.

  3. But what happened here shouldn't be possible, given your claim that huge numbers of Americans support gun control. When will you figure out that Americans support gun rights?

  4. I find the biggest barrier to sensible discussions about gun violence is the (justified) fear gun advocates have with pro gun control agenda of banning guns. There is too much talk about what firearms are "necessary" or "should be allowed" than actual discussions about gun violence. I am very pro-gun, but I'm not an idiot. There are too many idiots out there shooting innocent people, and we need to put a stop to it. The stupid AWB won't do it, magazine restrictions won't do it. I'll support a full background check law, but not at the expense of banning a single type of firearm. I'm an ex-LEO (shot in the line of duty), CCW holder living in Arizona. You don't get more pro-gun than that, but I'll pass a background check any day.

    1. So, you were in favor of the Manchin Toomey law?
