More test results

  1. Ah Laci - this was a great quiz.

I think some people are less than honest about their test scores...

  2. I do as well.

BTW, Orlin, were you banned from Blogging Blue for being a moron? I particularly liked this:

"Orlin, look, you’re not prudent, nor do you possess much in the way of “logic, reason or fact”.

You just seem in over your head.

I’m reminded of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer is somehow mistaken to be an employee at a big company, and given an assignment to complete. After he “completes” it, his boss calls him into his office, and says, “I don’t understand a word of this.” Kramer responds by saying, “Well, maybe I could tweak it a little bit”, and the boss says, “No, I don’t think that will help. It’s like you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing.”

Every time that I read something that you write, I feel like that boss, and that I’m looking at that report of Kramer’s.

It’s clear that you’re passionate. Why you’re so passionate about the things that you are passionate about is far less clear because what you write is as inarticulate, often to the point of incoherence, as it is.

You’re frustrating many of the people here with your inability to grasp the simplest and most basic tenets of rational discourse, and I think that it is time that we got to the bottom of it

With that in mind, and, just out of curiosity, Orlin:

    (1) How old are you?
    (2) How far did you get in school?
    (3) What do you do for a living. "

I have to ask the same questions since you really have no basis for your comments about my legal knowledge as far as I can tell.

And it's your problem if you are too dumb to understand what I am saying--not mine.

    1. That's strange, Laci. I usually have no problem seeing what Orlin is talking about. Your trouble is that you can't get outside your own prejudices.

    2. Pooch, the shyster is doing what comes naturally for someone without a conscience, not presenting the whole story.
If anyone cares, this is the thread in question at Blogging Blue.

  3. You wouldn't pass MikeB's test for owning a gun.

  4. By the way, Mikeb, a while ago, you crowed about how Venezuela banned guns for civilians. How's that working out?

    1. I didn't "crow" about it, in fact if I remember correctly I posted the story just for its interest offering no comment one way or the other.

Comparing the US to places like Mexico and Venezuela is foolish. You only do it because your argument is so weak you need all the help you can get.

    2. Mike,
If comparing the US to places like Mexico is foolish, then why is it ok to compare the US to Canada, the UK, and Japan? Even inside there are examples that illustrate that strict gun laws don't necessarily result in lower crime. In fact, recently Chicago has started claiming that their recent drop in gun violence is the result of controlling gangs, and not the standard pleas for just one more gun law.

    3. To Mikeb, those comparisons are only fair when they're good for his side. When I remind him about the suicide rates in Japan, Canada, and Ireland, he tells me that those don't count.

  5. This test seems a bit pointless for me since I cant see myself willingly going to California, barring military orders. I have friend there who is in the law enforcement there at the state level and he says Texas is looking very good to him right now.
California ranks first in the rankings with the Brady Campaign in strict gun laws but apparently doesnt rank in the top ten safest states in a recent ranking.
My home state of Minnesota ranks fourth and is a shall issue state, and tied at fourth place with Vermont which is a Constitutional carry state. This suggests that things other than strict gun laws can have more of an effect on gun violence.

  6. I have come to a conclusion. I was wrong to ever hold a negative opinion of you and your views. You, Laci, are a veritable god of 2nd Amendment knowledge. Your education, insight and erudition so greatly exceed that of us who disagree with you that we are insects dwelling in the overwhelming shadow of your knowledge. No doubt, when the world as a whole reflects your values, you'll be rightly declared its supreme oligarch. Happy now?

  7. No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency men went to and fro over this globe about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter. It is possible that the infusoria under the microscope do the same. No one gave a thought to the older worlds of space as sources of human danger, or thought of them only to dismiss the idea of life upon them as impossible or improbable. It is curious to recall some of the mental habits of those departed days. At most terrestrial men fancied there might be other men upon Mars, perhaps inferior to themselves and ready to welcome a missionary enterprise. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. And early in the twentieth century came the great disillusionment.

Remember that a simple cold knocked out those beings that thought themselves to be superior to the rest of us...
