Eugene Jarecki on the War on Drugs

  1. Two points:

    1. On this subject, I agree with Uygur and Jarecki. The War on Drugs has spawned increased government control, violation of basic rights, a lot of violence, but has achieved no good result.

    2. As Jarecki points out, the whole of society occasionally wakes up and realizes that something is wrong. We are in the midst of doing that now with gun rights. For several decades, only the powerful people and celebrities got carry licenses, and gun control was about keeping guns out of the hands of black people. Since the early nineties, my side has been reclaiming our basic rights, and the people are coming along.

  2. Anyone who thinks Big Pharma will ever allow natural drugs to become legal is living in a dream world.
